Don C. Keiser was born September 15, 1948 in Hawarden, Iowa to Clayton and Donna (Wheeler) Keiser. He died November 6, 2017 at his home in Canton, South Dakota at the age of 69 years.

Don was raised in Alcester and graduated from Alcester High School in 1966. He attended Southern State College in Springfield, SD where he played football. Don joined the US Air Force in 1969 where he served in Vietnam and was stationed in Montana and in Colorado. Following his honorable discharge in 1973, Don returned to southeastern South Dakota where he operated an excavating business. He worked with the US Postal Service in Sioux Falls for 30 years. While there he was a union representative for the postal employees.

His family was an important part of his life and he liked to tell a good story. Don was a proud member of the Canton VFW Post 3164, where he was a past commander, the Hudson American Legion Post 128 and he served as a volunteer firefighter when he lived in Centerville. He enjoyed pheasant hunting.

Survivors include his daughter, Tammi VanGrinsven of Brooklyn Park, MN; two grandchildren, Brenden and Kaia VanGrinsven; his mother, Donna Keiser of Beresford; three brothers, Vance Keiser of Alcester, Mark Keiser of Beresford and Lynn Keiser of Sioux Falls; niece, Tara (Chad) Hazel and three nephews, Chad Keiser, Matt Keiser and Tom Keiser. Don was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Keiser.

Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, November 11, 2017 at the Canton United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 4-8PM Friday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 5-7PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
