Dolores O'Connor McGill was born at Garryowen, SD January 9, 1918, the youngest of ten children born to Vincent and Mary Ellen O'Connor. She died December5, 2012 at Bethesda of Berresford at the age of 94 years. She married Edmund McGill in 1943. Dolores was a longtime resident of Beresford. She attended the first class at Mount Marty College in Yankton, SD majoring in elementary education and later graduated from USD with a degree in education. She taught in area schools and opened McGill's Kiddie Prep in 1973. Dolores continued to work part time at Bethesda of Beresford. She was a faithful servant and lifetime member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, taught religious education, was a member of the choir and was recognized as Mother of the Year in 1989. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, five daughters and five sons; Rosemary (Joseph) Mullin of Des Moines, IA, Patricia (William) Mullin of Arnold's Park, IA, Mary Kay (David) Bishop of Fort Wayne, IN, Frances (James) Heeren of Hudson, SD, Vincent (Sherry) McGill of Sioux City, IA, Victor McGill of Chicago, IL, Thomas McGill of Beresford, Michael (Pam) of Beresford Rita (George) Vondracek of Wells, MN and William (Mary) McGill of Minneapolis, MN; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one sister, Marie Muhlenkort of New Braunfels, TX and two nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund in 1981 and eight sisters and brothers.
