Obituary

Dolores Yvonne Schroeder Greguson, 93, was born in Geddes, SD on November 10, 1930. She was the daughter of George and Martha Schroeder, the second of four children. Dolores was only eight when her father passed away from pneumonia and her childhood years were spent helping with her siblings, while her mother ran the local café in Geddes. She attended Geddes High School where she played the French horn in the school band, sang in the choir, and was a cheerleader - all while working at the local drug store for spending money. During her senior year, she met her sweetheart Robert (Bob) Greguson at the Rest Haven dance hall in Lake Andes, SD, dancing to what later became their favorite song: "To Each His Own". That spring she graduated as Salutatorian and later that year married Bob on October 7, 1949. They raised a family of three boys, living in various SD towns before settling in Centerville for 58 years.

As a full-time homemaker, Dolores was a devoted wife, mom and Centerville Tornado fan, never missing an opportunity to support her boys and the local athletes. She loved to sing, dance, play cards, take impromptu road trips with Bob and many of their life-long friends, and watch sporting events. Later as the boys grew, she went to work at Schueler's Furniture Store and Schmeidt Drug Store. She loved her United Church of Christ family where she was a long-time member and proud to be one of the first women elders to serve communion. She was a volunteer in her church activities and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Dolores valued her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and her family will fondly remember her famous taverns, chili with mashed potatoes, and chocolate cake with a special white frosting - she was a great cook!

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Mark (Connie), Sioux Falls, SD; Paul (Linda), Brookings, SD; Todd (Barbara), Rochester, MN; 8 grandchildren, Angela (Bryan) Schoenfelder, Nicole (Jay) Papke, Bradley (Leslie) Greguson, Lezlee (Ned) Greguson Lund, Tyler (Anna) Greguson, Connor, Carter and Trevor Greguson; 7 great-grandchildren, Jack and Nate Schoenfelder, Vivian Papke, Sydney Lund, Madeline Greguson, Teddy and Vinny Greguson; sisters-in-law Arlene Schroeder and Joyce Schroeder, many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Dolores was preceded in death by Bob, her loving husband of 64 years, and her parents, brothers George and Delton Schroeder, and sister Ra Nae (Schroeder) Uithoven.

The extended Greguson Family is grateful for the supportive friends and great care teams who shared her health journey in her later years. Dolores was truly loved by her family and will be dearly missed.
