Dianne R. Ronning was born November 12, 1949 in Yankton, SD to parents Glenn and Luella (Schmeichel) Christensen. She died July 16, 2011 at her home in rural Alcester, SD at the age of 61 years, 8 months and 4 days. Dianne attended rural elementary schools and graduated from Viborg High School in 1968. She married Gaylon Ronning on November 16, 1968. The couple lived on a farm in the Nora area until moving to their current home south of Alcester. Dianne had worked at Tolly's Café, Alcester Elementary School, Cenex Convenience Store and for the last 16 years at the Alcester Steak House. Dianne was baptized into the Christian faith on March 30, 1983 at Big Springs Baptist Church where she was currently attending. She was also a member of the Alcester VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies and interests included reading, playing cards, mowing the lawn, working in the yard and growing flowers. She loved to play golf and won the Women's League Championship in 1991. She was preceded in death by her parents. Her survivors include her husband Gaylon of Alcester; two daughters, Lisa Ronning of Las Vegas, NV and Valerie Ronning of Sioux Falls; granddaughter Lexy Ronning of Sioux Falls; two brothers, Marlin Christensen and wife Mary Ann of Viborg and Quentin Christensen of Yankton, SD; sister Robin McCoy and husband Kelly of Papillion, NE and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorials may be directed to Big Springs Baptist Church Youth Missions. A memorial service will be held 2:00PM, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday from 6:00PM to 8:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM at Big Springs Baptist. A burial of Dianne's cremated remains will take place at a later date.
