Dianne Rist, age 77, passed away January 11, 2025 while under hospice care at Centerville Care & Rehab.

Dianne Shirley Andersen was born May 23, 1947 at Viborg SD to Harvey and Freda (Hansen) Andersen.  She was baptized and confirmed at Spring Valley Lutheran Church rural Viborg. She attended Grand View District 39 Country School and graduated from Viborg High School in 1965.

On May 17, 1966, she was united in marriage to Lee Rist at Spring Valley Lutheran Church.  They were married almost 59 years.  They lived and farmed west of Centerville their entire married life.  Dianne was a devoted farm wife, mother, and homemaker.  She worked side by side with Lee driving grain truck to Sioux City and also driving tractors in the fields.  She was well known for the wonderful meals she made for any guests in her home.

Dianne was an active and faithful member of Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville.  She served several years on church council, Sunday School and Bible School teacher, quilters, and WELCA officer.  She enjoyed working in the church library and being the head librarian.  She was also a 4-H leader with her husband Lee for many years.  She served on the Christian Women's Club committee and was a founding member of a Home Extension Club.   Dianne enjoyed being a member of the Komstad Faith Circle for 59 years and looked forward to the monthly gatherings.

Dianne was very proud of her Danish Heritage and the fact that she was 100% Dane.  She loved to share the Danish traditions with everyone especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed being on the Viborg Danish Days committee.

Dianne was very talented with her beautiful handiwork.  She did all kinds of quilting, sewing, crocheting, and needlework.  Most of all Dianne loved to be Grandma Dianne and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by father-in law Earl Rist and mother-in-law Myrtle Rist; siblings Harlan Andersen, Marian Wiens and her husband Arvel, Leon Andersen and his wife Marilyn, Jerome Andersen, and Larry Anderson.

Grateful for having shared her life are husband Lee of 59 years, children David (Marsha) Rist, Centerville SD, Jill (Jamie) Poppenga, Centerville SD and Tammi (Colin) Palm, Plattsmouth NE.  Eight Grandchildren; Justin (Sara) Poppenga, Josie (Christian) Gruschin, Heather (Brian) Dangel, Shane Rist, Alex Palm, Charlotte Palm, Harper Palm and Tess Palm.  Three Great Grandchildren; Hesston Poppenga, Rylee Poppenga, and Lynnlee Dangel.  Sister in laws Carol Andersen and Sharon Andersen, a special niece Julie Hoogshagen, nieces and nephews, seven God-children and a host of other relatives and friends.
