Obituary

Dianna Lynn Jurgensen was born on October 20, 1954 in Hawarden, Iowa to Warren and Josephine Jurgensen.  She attended Bancroft, Little Flower Catholic School and Whittier Middle School.  Dianna graduated from Washington High School in 1972.  At the age of 19, she moved to Fargo, North Dakota with her boyfriend and worked at a hospital where she learned how to be a surgical tech.

At the age of 21, Dianna moved to Emery, SD after meeting her former husband Gregory Roskens at the smalltown bar.  They married in March of 1975 at Emery First Baptist Church and lived on a farm five miles west of town.  Dianna worked on the farm, babysat, was an employee at the Emery Post Office, served on the Mitchell Chamber of Commerce, worked as a surgical tech at Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell.  Fun Fact: She actually brought the surgical tech program to the Mitchell Hospital – she was so proud of this accomplishment.  She found so much joy during these years bringing her two daughters Rachael and Shannon to Sunday School so they too could learn about Jesus being in their hearts like He was in hers.  She loved children so much that she volunteered in the nursery, worked at the local youth center, lead Awana and VBS classes, and taught 4th and 5th grade Sunday School.  She loved to garden, weed, cook, and have a clean home.  She loved to take the girls to Mitchell every Saturday where they took piano and voice lessons and would eat out at the local Chinese restaurant.

In 1998, she started her life over in the comfort of the city of Sioux Falls where she grew up.  She was employed at Hutchinson Technology and then HSBC until they closed.  She worked at Citibank for a short time until she started at Capital Card Services.  She remained at there as a Senior Account Supervisor until her retirement in April of 2025.  This is where her sales skills shined as she enjoyed the vacations and prizes she would win for being the #1 salesperson, with often times giving her prizes to her kids or grandkids. Her grandbabies were her world.  Although distance separated us, every phone call she would go down the line of grandchildren to ask how each one was doing.  She was so proud of them and would always say, "you can do anything you set your mind to".  She loved to FaceTime and tell them to be good to their mom.

When we would all get together, she enjoyed sharing her love of music, memories, and laughter.  She knew how to put on a good bonfire and create an atmosphere of peace.  Her backyard was her oasis.  She adventured to the zoo and the falls and just basked in the joy of watching all the kids be together.

Dianna is survived by her two daughters, Rachael (Ryan) Tiedeman of Beresford, SD and Shannon (Mark) Hoverson of Gilbert, AZ, and their father, Greg Roskens of Emery, SD; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Tiedeman, Larissa Tiedeman, and Jase Tiedeman, Isaac Hoverson, Grace Hoverson, Rush Hoverson, and Micah Hoverson; five siblings, Rita Herried, Mike Jurgensen, Jill Wingert, and Mark Jurgensen; and four nieces and nephews, Stacey Herried, Jerrid (Molly) Wingert, Megan (Alejandro) Morquecho, and Bryne Jurgensen.

Dianna was proceeded in death by her parents, Warren and Josephine Jurgensen; sister, Linda; nephew, Patrick Herried; and son-in-law, Mark Hoverson.

Following Dianna's wishes, no public services are planned at this time. Memorials for the family may be sent to Wass Funeral Home, 301 N 3rd Street, Beresford, SD  57004.
