With deep sadness, the family of Diane Sue Bertrand Forbes announces her passing on August 6, 2026, at her home in Monument, Colorado. She was 83.

Diane was born on March 2, 1943, to Leonard and Hilda Bertrand. One of seven children, she grew up in Centerville, South Dakota, where her family roots and lifelong connections began.

Diane shared 62 devoted years of marriage with her beloved husband, Alfred A. Forbes III,Colonel, Retired. During Al’s service in the United States Air Force, Diane and Al traveled throughout the country, building a life filled with family, friendship, and adventure. In 1986, they settled in Monument, Colorado, where they built the home they had always dreamed of.

After making Colorado her home, Diane earned her real estate license and enjoyed a successful career as a Realtor for more than three decades. She was known for her commitment to her clients and her lasting connection to the community she served. Outside of work, Diane was an avid tennis player and a devoted Colorado Rockies fan.

Diane is survived by her husband, Alfred A. Forbes III; her daughter, Allison Forbes McGrath and husband John, and their children Kyle and Delaney; her son, Chris Forbes and wife Lisa, and their children TJ and Maddie; and her siblings, Marily (Clay) Smebakken, Barbara (Burdette) Johnson, Chuck (Debbie) Bertrand, and Pamela (Barry) Samulcek, and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Hilda Bertrand; her sister, Rose Marie (Lester) Austin; and her sister, Carol Lee (Doug) Nygard.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Good Shepherd Church in Diane’s hometown of Centerville, South Dakota. Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, also at Good Shepherd Church.

Diane will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of home, her spirited presence on the tennis court, and the warmth she brought to those fortunate enough to know her.
