Dewey F. Rasmussen was born October 25, 1925 to parents Ludvig and Emma (Thompson) Rasmussen. He died September 15, 2017 at Bethesda of Beresford, with his wife and sons at his side, at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 20 days.

He grew up on the family farm where he and his brother, Ray, learned to farm from their dad. Dewey was baptized and confirmed at Romsdal Lutheran Church where he was a life time member. His favorite Bible verse was John 3:16. Dewey attended Pleasant Hill School for eight years, three years at Augustana Academy in Canton and graduated from Beresford High School.

He married Yvonne Fredrickson on January 27, 1948 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville, SD. They made their home on the Rasmussen farm where they raised their two sons, Norman and Donald. Dewey loved to sing and was a member of his church choir for many years. He and Yvonne moved into Beresford in 1991 and Dewey worked for several years at Tendaire Industries. In 2012, they moved into Bethesda. His family and friends will remember him as a fun-loving man.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Yvonne; sons, Norman (Altie) Rasmussen and Donald (Beth) Rasmussen; two granddaughters, Jessica Rasmussen and Tina (Brent) Hepner and his grandson, Tyler (Rachel) Rasmussen; and six great-granddaughters. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Raymond Rasmussen; and three sisters, Eunice Tuntland, Delores Sessions and Marcella Tuntland.

Funeral services will be 2PM Monday, September 18, 2017 at Romsdal Lutheran Church, rural Beresford, SD. Visitation will be 3-8PM Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 5-7PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
