Detlov Lindquist was born October 8, 1917 in Rockford, IL to parents Detlov and Thyra (Peterson) Lindquist. He died February 9, 2012 at Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 1 day. Detlov graduated from high school in Marinette, WI and attended the Salvation Army Seminary in Chicago, IL. He married his wife Margie Ann on November 1, 1944 in Rockford, IL. Detlov was ordained as a pastor in the Evangelical Free Church on April 24, 1949 and served parishes in Funk, NE, Meriden, IA, Eaton, CO, Beresford, SD, Concord, NE, and Omaha, NE. The couple returned to Beresford in October of 1993 where Detlov rejoined Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church as a visitation pastor. Margie Ann died on February 7, 1994 and Detlov continued to live here until the present time. Detlov enjoyed the Ministry of serving others and God. One of the highlights of his life was a tour of the Holy Lands. He was a man of strong faith and looked forward meeting his Lord and Savior face to face, which he did joyfully on February 9, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother Carl. He is survived by his son Steven Lindquist and wife Patricia of Sioux Falls, SD; two granddaughters, Ann Elizabeth (Philip) Zimmerman and their daughter Felicity Ann, Norfolk, NE and April Linn (Craig) Dewey, Sioux Falls, SD; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, February 13, 2012 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church, rural Beresford, SD with burial at the church cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Sunday from 5PM to 7PM and a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
