Dennis Dewayne Ochsner, 68 of Beresford SD, died July 11, 2009 at Bethesda Nursing Home after struggling with a long illness.
Denny was born April 22, 1941 in Mobridge, SD to Oscar & Mildred (Thompson) Ochsner. Denny went to school in Mobridge and worked with his dad across Kansas and Oklahoma doing custom combining. Denny was a master of all trades. He knew how to run any piece of heavy equipment. Throughout his life he held various jobs from driving truck to working on the power lines and in coal mines. He retired from LG Everest Railroad as superior of D&I Railroad maintenance of way division in 2001 .
In 1961 Denny married Billie Brown. They had one daughter, Marne. In 1971 Dennis married Jannelle Badure and they had two daughters, Kristi and Kari. Jannelle died in May 1994 after a long battle with cancer. Denny then married Sharyl Waag in 2000.
Denny was a good hearted man. He would give the shirt off his back to help others. He loved to hunt, race cars, and fix things. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all, especially by his pet cat Boots.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Sharyl and his daughters Kristi (Tim) Huenink, Kari (Chris) Carlson all of Beresford, Marne (Bryan) Bickel of Trail City, SD, and step son Jeff (Julie) Hult of Huron, SD. Grandchildren include: Ashleigh, Sylar, Nevaeh, Clayton, and Holly. Two sisters Jean (Milton) Roebuck and Sheila Dame.
Denny's wife Jannelle, his parents Mildred and Oscar Ochsner, and brother Bernyl, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge, SD, with burial at the Mobridge City Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM and a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford and one hour prior to funeral services at the church.
