Obituary

Dennis Hedeen was born February 14, 1940 in Slayton, MN to parents Earl and Opal (Jones) Hedeen. He died October 10, 2006 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 66 years, 7 months and 26 days. Dennis attended elementary school in Beresford graduated from Beresford High School. He moved to Wisconsin and lived there for a short time. He returned to Beresford where he worked at Als Market and then began working at Wass Funeral Home and the Wass Furniture Store where he drove ambulance, did maintenance work and installed carpet. He married Janice Johnson on July 30, 1960. Dennis worked for the Bigelow Sanford Carpet Company in Chicago for two years. He then moved back to Beresford and was self-employed for the remainder of his career as a floor covering technician. Dennis was a devoted member of the Beresford United Church of Christ where he served in many capacities, was an active member of the Beresford Fire Department for 34 years, and was a member of the Tri Valley Barbershop Chorus for several years. He built and enjoyed radio controlled model airplanes, was a member of the Prairie Village, Herman and Milwaukee Railroad Club in Madison, SD, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Earl. His survivors include 4 sons: Glenn of Alcester, John of Sioux Falls, Richard of Sioux Falls and Craig of St. Louis; 2 daughters: Diane Anderson of ONeill, NE and LeAnn Crowell of Sioux Fall; 13 grandchildren; sister Shirley Jacobson of Beresford and brother Gary Hedeen of Grand Forks, ND; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the United Church of Christ in Beresford with burial to follow at the Beresford Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 3PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7PM at the United Church of Christ.
