Dennis "Tex" Harmon was born September 5, 1942 in Beresford, SD to parents Earl and Dagmar (Osthus) Harmon. He died April 2, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD at the age of 68. Dennis graduated from Hurley High School in 1960. He lived in Sioux Falls for 11 years while working for Cenex. He then moved back to Centerville. He worked for Alkota in Alcester, SD for over 15 years, retiring in September of 2010 due to ill health. Dennis continued to live in Centerville until his death. Dennis was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. His hobbies and interests included playing pinochle and going to coffee with his friends and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eldon and grandson Kyle Jon Oltmanns. Survivors include three daughters, Marjie Schofield and husband Brian of Cottage Grove, OR, Deb Oltmanns and husband Mark of Akron, IA and Jodi Tieman and husband Darren of Centerville; 7 grandchildren, Derek Harmon, Devon Harmon, Cole Oltmanns, Skylar Schofield, Desirae Oltmanns, Courtney Schofield and Rylie Tieman; 3 brothers, Dean Harmon and wife Joann of Sturgis, SD, Elwood Harmon and wife Betty of Sioux Falls and Bobby Harmon and wife Cathy of Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Jan Harmon of Hurley; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Thursday, April 7 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville with visitation one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be held at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville.
