Dennis E. Ellett was born March 17, 1946, in Moline, IL, to parents Curtis and Helen (Lambert) Ellett. He died April 28, 2007, in rural Beresford, SD, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 11 days. Dennis graduated from Moline High School in 1964 and then attended college. Dennis married Phyllis Burkhiser on November 26, 1967. Together they raised two children, Ryan and Katrina. Soon after their wedding, Dennis was drafted into the United States Army and served for 15 months in Vietnam. After his discharge from the Army he returned to Moline. He graduated from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, IA, and subsequently worked for John Deere and for the governments of Scott County, IA, and Bettendorf, IA. He attained his Master of Business Administration degree in 1990 from the University of Illinois. In 2002, Dennis moved to the Beresford area where he worked for Minnehaha County as the Director of Information Services. Dennis was associated with Roseni Lutheran Church in rural Beresford, SD. He was actively involved with the church and had a passion for mission programs. He loved the outdoors, notably fishing, rock-climbing, and kayaking. Dennis had a special fondness for orchids, flying, and working his farm. Survivors include his wife Phyllis of Beresford, SD; son Ryan Ellett and wife Joanna Harader of Lawrence, KS; daughter Katrina Logan and husband Cory of Davenport, FL; 5 grandchildren: James, Jasmine, and Grace Harader-Ellett and Terry and Kennedy Logan; brother Jack Ellett and wife Karen of Zionsville, IN; sister Jan Peterson and husband Dale of Colona, IL; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Celebration of Life will be held 11AM, Friday, May 4 at Roseni Lutheran Church, rural Beresford. The family will be present for visitation on Thursday from 6PM to 8PM at Roseni Lutheran Church. Memorials may be directed to the Roseni Lutheran Church Missions Fund.
