Dennis Kaye Davidson, a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather unexpectedly passed away on March 28, 2024. Dennis was born in Okeene, Oklahoma on August 29, 1950, to Irene (Armstrong) Davidson. Dennis' dad, Corky, worked for the telephone company putting in phone lines across the country which had the family moving about every six months. Eventually that landed them in Beresford, South Dakota where Dennis put down roots. He was forever grateful to the Merriman family for taking him in and showing him the payoff of hard work and family. Dennis married the love of his life, Diane Larson, on June 25, 1977, at Komstad Covenant Church. From the marriage they were blessed with a son, Eric, and a daughter, Amy.
Dennis overcame many hardships and difficulties to provide the best for his family. His work ethic and grind enabled him to enjoy a good life full of family vacations and his hobby of classic cars. Dennis rarely missed a day of work at the dreaded meat packing plant, John Morrell; 3 am, 5 to 6 days a week, for over 30 years! After long-days of making bacon, he and Diane poured their talents into renovating rentals. The most memorable family trip was a Griswold-like, month-long, van trip to California. Dennis enjoyed attending car shows and had a passion for classic cars. He started his car collection, unbeknownst to Diane, by coming home with a no interior, auctioned-off, maroon 1954 Ford. There were many hot rods in the years after that including his Custom 1950 Merc. Diane even grew to enjoy the car shows and cruises together. Dennis eventually finished customizing his dream car, a 1959 Cadillac Convertible. He was known to work hard to play hard!
He was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Diane. Also preceding him in death are his parents, Irene and Corky Davidson, half-sisters, Evelyn and Janie, father-in-law, Cameron Larson, brother-in-law, Wayne Larson, and nephew, Scott Munce.
Dennis is survived by his son, Eric of Beresford, grandsons Logan, Dillon, and Camden, great granddaughter Lilah Davidson, daughter, Amy (Jeremy) Swier of Sioux Falls, and granddaughters Cora and JoAnna. He is also survived by his brother Ray (Linda) Davidson of Webster City, IA, mother-in-law Lois Larson of Beresford, sister-in-law Cheryl Larson of Sioux Falls, sister-in-law Renee Munce of Sioux Falls, brother-in-law Harvey (Wendy) Larson of Beresford, sister-in-law Jane (Sean) Bade of Sioux Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
Dennis Davidson, may he rest in peace, will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Visitation will be 4-6PM Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD followed by the funeral at 6PM.
