Obituary

Dennis Nile Buseman was born June 22, 1947 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Henry and Annetta (Bartels) Buseman. He died December 10, 2025 at his home in Viborg, SD at the age of 78 years. Funeral services will be 10AM Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at First Baptist Church, 700 SD-44, Chancellor, SD 57015; burial with military honors will follow at the Chancellor Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7PM Monday at the church with a 7PM prayer service. Wass Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

He was raised on the family farm and attended country school and graduated from Centerville High School. Denny was proud of his perfect attendance through all 12 years of school. He honorably served in the US Army and was a triple Purple Heart recipient during his tour in Vietnam. Following his discharge, he returned to South Dakota where he married Rhonda Schwiesow. They had two children, Dawn and Kelly. After this marriage ended, Denny married Janet Pederson.

Denny began his working career at Fountain International in Beresford. Following his time there, he became a fulltime farmer. Along with farming he was a part time bulk milk hauler delivering milk to Land O'Lakes. He worked on the farm until he was no longer able. Even after he could no longer go to the farm, he would call to see how things were going and making sure things were getting done. He enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family. His faith in Jesus was very important to him and it showed in the way he connected with people. He always ended his phone calls saying, "Pray for me and I will pray for you."

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Galen and Darvin Buseman; wife, Janet; his son, Kelly Nile Buseman; and nephew, Lance Buseman.

Denny is survived by his daughter, Dawn Buseman and Craig of Viborg; three grandsons, Levi (Brittney Leber and family) Buseman, Deagan Buseman and Riley Buseman; son, Shawn (Kelley) Knudson of Hortense, GA and family; brother, Marty (Joyce) Buseman of Centerville; sister-in-law, Darletta Buseman of Evans, CO; three step-children, Christi, Lonnie and Jennifer and their families; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
