Delores Hult was born June 11, 1928 in Clay County, SD to parents Noble and Ida (Osthus) Nelson. She died June 16, 2010 at the Centerville Good Samaritan Center at the age of 82 years and 5 days.
Dee was raised on a farm in Clay County. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1946 and then attended Yankton College. She taught rural school in Turner Country for several years. Dee married Chester Hult in 1948. To this union were born three children, Jerald, Jeannie, and Jerome.
Dee was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and later became a member of Komstad Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, deacon, and Covenant Women treasurer and chairman. She was a 53 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and belonged to the Model Mrs. Extension Club. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and loved sharing with her family. Sunday School and Bible studies were very important to Dee as the church was her extended family.
Dee and Chet had the opportunity to travel to Norway several times and enjoyed seeing where her grandparents had grown up. The couple also spent over 20 winters in Texas where they made many friends during their time there.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
Her survivors include three children, Jerry Hult and wife Jan of Centerville, Jeannie Ostrem and husband Tom of Madison and Jerome Hult and wife Brenda of Davis; nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Doug) Sikkink, Jeremy Hult, Jamey (Ashley) Hult, Jana (Chris) Goetz, Chad (Melissa) Ostrem, Kelli (Reed) Timmer, Haley Hult, Heather (Brandon) White and Heath Hult; eight great grandchildren; one brother Noble Nelson and wife Marlys of Centerville; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Komstad Church, rural Beresford with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM and a prayer service at 7PM at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Komsatd Buliding Fund.
