Obituary

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Deane Elgin Fahlberg was born February 6, 1922 in rural Beresford, SD to Samuel and Matilda Fahlberg. He entered into Glory on November 26, 2010 at the age of 88 years 9 months and 20 days. Deane was blessed to be born, live his life and pass away on the family farmstead.

Deane attended Pleasant Elementary and Beresford High School. He started farming with his father and raised livestock. He accepted Christ as a young man. He married Maye Holmes at the Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church in rural Beresford on September 24, 1948. They made their home on the family farm and raised five children. Deane served on the Pleasant school board and was a faithful member of the Brooklyn Free Church where he served on the trustee board for many years. Deane retired from farming in 1997. Some of the precious memories are family vacations in northern Minnesota and traveling to western Europe and Scandinavia.

Deane dearly loved God, his family, his farm, Brooklyn Church, the Beresford community and his country.

Among those who survive and who gratefully shared his life are his wife of 62 years Maye, children: Barbara McGehee of Brooklyn Park, MN, Frederick and wife Debbie of Beresford, SD, Rebecca Fahlberg and Cynthia Toovi of Brooklyn Park, MN, Laurie Spangler and husband Mark of Murray, NE. Also surviving are grandchildren: Michael McGehee and wife Anna of Minneapolis, MN, David McGehee of Brooklyn Park, MN, Nick and Lauren Fahlberg of Beresford, SD, Lauren's fianc Doug Olson of Sioux Falls, SD, Glenn and Ericka Spangler of Murray, NE and Gal Toovi of Brooklyn Park, MN and in-laws: Bernice Fahlberg of Lincoln, NE, Eva Rieger of Roswell, NM, Harold and Berniece Peterson of Turlock, CA and Wendell Holmes of Omaha, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert, his granddaughter Molly McGehee and his sons-in-law, Wade McGehee and Eden Toovi.

Our hearts are filled with sadness at this earthly loss but we look to the future with joyful anticipation of our reunion in Heaven.

Deanes family invites you to join them for a lunch to be held in the church fellowship hall following his funeral service. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Funeral services will be held 2:00PM, Friday, December 3 at Brooklyn Evangelical Free Church. Visitation will be Thursday from 5PM to 8PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
