Dawson Lloyd Knudson, age 15, received his angel wings October 26, 2017 at Avera Hospital in Sioux Falls from injuries sustained in a car accident; he was surrounded by family and friends.

Dawson was born September 18, 2002 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents Heather (Austin) Knudson and Dana Knudson. He was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church and was a freshman at Centerville High School.

Dawson was an amazing kid with a love for life. He had a great smile that would light up the room as he entered. Dawson enjoyed spending time with his mom, dad and brother, Dalton, and his many friends and family. His love for life kept him very busy in activities; he was involved in football, basketball, track, FFA, choir, marching band and Teeners baseball. Through these years of activities, Dawson met some wonderful kids and outstanding coaches.

His drive and passion was admired by all that knew him and brought him many accomplishments. Dawson had a huge heart, and with this, he touched many people's lives. As Dawson walked the halls of CHS he greeted many kids with a smile, a high five, or even some with hugs.

He is survived by his mom, Heather Knudson; dad, Dana (Stacy King) Knudson; brother, Dalton Knudson; grandparents, Dean (Mavis) Austin and LeAnn Knudson; great-grandmother, Rose Marie Austin; his uncle Ryan (Heidi) Austin and their children, Keira, Lydia & Brea, uncle Troy (Jen) Knudson and their children, Dustin, Kelsey, Courtney & Dallas, and aunt Kris Sweeney and her children, Tracia, Keaton and Chelsey; and Dawson's special friend, Kennedy Goblirsch.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Lloyd Knudson; great-grandparents, Martin (LaVona) Voog, Lester Austin, Ralph (Caroline) Knudson and Lawrence (Opal) Hagen.
