Obituary

David Lee Inberg, 92, of Beresford, SD, passed away at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, Monday, March 3, 2025 after health complications and a fall at his home. Visitation will be held at Wass Funeral Home, in Beresford, SD on Friday, March 14, from 5:00PM-7:00PM. The Funeral will be at Roseni Lutheran Church, 47214 307th St., Beresford, SD 57004 on Saturday, March 15, at 10:00AM, with a meal following.

David was born July 5, 1932, to Paul and Viola Inberg. He was married to Sandra Inberg, and they had two children, Julie Nielsen and Kelly Inberg (Kayla). David has two grandchildren Sterling Nielsen (Kersten), and Chandler Jansen (Dan), and two great grandchildren Emmitt and Mia Nielsen. David is survived by his sister Pauline Hoff, brother Edsel Inberg, and sister Shirley Juel. He was preceded in death by his wife Sandra, his parents Viola and Paul, and his brother Lindy Inberg.

David attended Sunny Side Rural School and Beresford High School. David served honorably in the US Army from 1952-1954, in France, during the Korean War. He worked nine years with the South Dakota Highway Engineers Department. In 1967 David and Sandra purchased the family farm south of Beresford. David loved being a farmer. Over the years they had several types of livestock including cattle, sheep and swine, and raised multiple crops. Farming was not easy, but he never complained and seemed to enjoy all the hard work. One of David's biggest passions was horses, he had horses most of the years on the farm. David enjoyed taking the horses on numerous trail rides with friends and family, and spent several years going to team penning events.

David and the family enjoyed traveling to places like Seattle to visit family, Disney Land in California, and many trips to the Black Hills. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, his children's 4H activities, and community softballs games. Roseni Church was also a big part of David and his family's lives, it was the hub of the community, both Spiritually and socially.

One of the biggest joys in David's life was attending his grandchildren Sterling and Chandler's many activities. Over the years there were numerous basketball, soccer, and football games, track meets, tennis matches, Church and school musicals, and more, Grandpa and Grandma rarely missed the activities and loved attending.

David had a tough time slowing down as his body was getting weaker. He would often be climbing ladders and doing projects, even snow blowing his sidewalk and neighbor's sidewalks, which might be what helped him live so long, but it added a lot of bumps and bruises.

Thanks to the coffee group in Beresford that dad would often join each day. It was tough for him to be so home-bound so even though he had a challenging time hearing the conversations he really enjoyed spending time with the guys and catching up on the local news and gossip.

Dad, grandpa and great grandpa will be very missed.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to the Roseni Ladies Aid or the Sioux Falls Humane Society.
