David Duncan was born November 29, 1952 to Lowell M. and Joanne (Johnson) Duncan in Oceanside, CA. He died at his home October 21, 2017 in Alcester, SD at the age of 64 years.
David's early years were spent on a farm near Wakonda, SD before his parents moved to a farm near Alcester in 1960. He attended Cole and Brilliant Hill country schools. His parents bought their farm in 1964 northwest of Alcester where David learned to love the land. Following graduation from Alcester High School in 1971 he attended South Dakota State University for two years. In 1973 David bought a farm on the same section his parents farmed.
He married Marjory Anderson March 16, 1974. They moved into Alcester in 1991 and David worked in sales and did earth moving construction projects of making terraces and ditches. In 1999 he got back to farming when his father had a stroke. In 2006 David and Marjory moved back to the farm where he has been farming since.
He enjoyed working at DJ's Express with his family and visiting with the customers. David had a love for reading and learning; he liked gaining knowledge through books and the internet.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marjory Duncan of Alcester; son, Jesse (Desiree) Duncan of Alcester; daughter, Jillean (Weston) Frank of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Tatyana, Jameson, Jackson and Jed; brother, John (Rhonda) Duncan of Sioux Falls, and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be 2PM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester. Visitation with the family present will be 6-8PM Thursday at the church.
