On October 30, 2022, David Wayne Bye, beloved husband, father, papa, and friend, passed away at his home at the age of 70 after lengthy health battle.

Born on November 16, 1951, in Vermillion, SD he was the second of three children to Wayne and Marlys Bye. He graduated from Vermillion High School where he was active in many sports.

He married the love of his life, Kristi, on January 19, 1974. They lived in Vermillion where they had two beautiful daughters, Jana and Carrie. In 1983 they moved to Beresford where they made their home.

Dave made friends wherever he went. He was an active member of both the Vermillion and Beresford Fire Department. Dave loved his almost 40 years working at Alkota Cleaning Systems as a Midwest Regional Sales Manager. For the past 7 summers they have made a home down in Yankton at the Meridian Bridge RV Park. He couldn't wait to get down there every weekend. David loved his children and grandchildren with all his heart. He would brag about them all the time.  He loved watching them achieve their goals whether it was academics, a sport they were playing, a rodeo, or showing livestock. He was always one of their biggest cheerleaders.

David is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Marlys Bye. He is survived by his wife, Kristi of Beresford, SD; his children, Jana (Kipp) Julson of Garretson, SD and Carrie (William) Dragt of Tea, SD; Grandkids; Tessa, Drew, and Madison; Sisters; Marci (Don) Hovden of Vermillion, SD and Donna (Warren Gregg) Bye of Sioux City, IA, Sisters-in-law; Carol (Roger) Jacob and Kay (Kendal) Swee; both of Beresford, SD and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be 10AM Saturday November 5th at Dalesburg Lutheran Church, 30595 University Rd. Vermillion, SD 57069. Visitation with the family present will be 5-7PM Friday, November 4th at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with a 7PM gathering to share memories. David's Love for both SDSU and USD was well known. They request that you wear either SDSU (Blue and Yellow) or USD (Red or White) for the Memorial Service.
