Daryle was born at Hudson, SD on September 13, 1930 to Wayne and Dora (Anderson) McVay. He died at Sioux City, IA on February 5, 2010 at the age of 79 years, four months and 22 days.

He attended Millbrook rural school and graduated from Beresford High School in 1948. He joined the US Air Force during the Korean War in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He became a member of the American Legion in 1975.

Daryle was baptized at Congregational Church in Hudson; he reaffirmed his faith at Romsdal and later joined Emmanuel. Daryle married Shirley Hartman on November 3, 1953. They had five children, Darla (Dana) Wilson of Hudson, Kelly McVay of Yankton, Tami (Joe) Zerr of Aberdeen, Lori (Robert) Padmore of Sioux City, IA and Amy (Bryan) Kauchich of Lehi, UT. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Annie (Michael) Crist, Cody and Jesse Wilson, Michael and Haley Zerr and Jack Padmore; one great-granddaughter, Carley Crist; sister, Nona Breen and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 10AM Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. The family will be present to greet friends Tuesday from 6:30-8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford where there will be a prayer service at 7PM.
