IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darrell L.
Osborn
December 19, 1953 – February 12, 2021
Darrell Lee Osborn went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2021 at the age of 67 with his wife, Candice, by his side.
Darrell was born in Sioux Falls, SD to Melvin and Dorothy (Fischer) Osborn on December 19, 1953. He attended Ash Grove District 26 Country School and graduated from Centerville High School in 1972.
After a few years of welding and mechanic jobs, he came home to work the family farm. On September 4th, 1976 he married the love of his life, Candice Jorgensen at Calvary Lutheran Church in Irene. They purchased their first farm in 1983 where they farmed and raised their three children. In 2007, they built a home on the river and in 2018, they retired from farming and got serious about adventuring in their motorhome; spending their winters in Arizona riding their RZR and making friends from all over the US and Canada.
If you met Darrell, you knew of his smile, contagious laughter, words of wisdom, and his zeal for life and adventure. He had an untiring work ethic and such a giving nature... if a friend, neighbor, or even complete stranger needed something, he would move mountains to help them. He led such a full and productive life and enriched the lives of everyone he knew.
Darrell was always intensely interested in the finer details of how things worked, why they worked that way and what could be done to make them better. To Darrell, there was nothing you couldn't create, no machine that couldn't be built, no field that couldn't be cultivated and no problem he couldn't sort out. This intelligence, creative thinking and can-do attitude pervaded all aspects of his life.
He was civic minded; was active in the Davis Volunteer Fire Department, the Turner County Emergency Disaster Service and the Viborg Elevator Board.
The legacy he built lives on through his children and grandchildren.
So very grateful for having shared his life and wisdom are his loving wife of 44 years, Candice; his three children; Jennifer (Casey) Slack of Lennox, Marisa (Steve) Ladd of Austin, TX, Ben (Laura) Osborn of Los Angeles, CA; four grandchildren Landon Slack, Briana Slack, Tyson Ladd and Savannah Ladd; brother David Osborn of Salem, SD and sister Carolyn Osborn of Kyle, TX, brother-in-law Rex (Janna) Jorgensen of Custer, SD; brother-in-law Todd (Kim) Jorgensen of Yankton, SD; and his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Dorothy Osborn and Candice's parents; Arlis and Don Jorgensen.
Visitation will be held at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville on Wednesday February 17th from 5:00pm-7:30pm with family present from 6:00pm-7:30pm.
