Funeral services for Darrell Knutson will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8th at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Scandia Fellowship Hall with the family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Darrell Knutson was born October 7, 1931 to Herman and Eva (Jensen) Knutson in South Dakota. He died April 2, 2009 in Sioux Falls after a 22 year battle with cancer at the age of 77 years, five months and 25 days.

He attended Midway country school and graduated from Centerville High School in 1949. Darrell was baptized and confirmed at Scandia Lutheran Church. He completed one year at Augustana College in Sioux Falls before being drafted into the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge, Darrell married Ruby Carlson on June 9, 1957.

Darrell farmed for many years southwest of Centerville, retiring in 1996. He was a charter member of the Tri Valley Chorus and active at Scandia Lutheran Church. Darrell served on the Midway School Board, the Township Board and the Turner McCook Rural Water Board. He enjoyed RVing and was a member of the SD Ringneck Winnies.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; four children, Michael (Sharon) Knutson of Tucson, AZ, David Knutson and his fianc, Renae of Yankton, Rebecca (Gordon) Roth of Hurley and Randall (Shanny) Knutson of Harrogate, England; 12 grandchildren, Tayne, Abigail, Tyler, Autumn, Brandon, Bryant, James, Terysha, Julia, Patrick, Bronte, and Colton; and one brother, Everett (Joan) Knutson of Centerville. His parents and two sisters, Beverly and Bonnie Mae preceded Darrell in death.
