Darrel Floyd Gors was born April 27, 1936 in Sioux Falls, SD to parents Floyd and Angeline (Johnson) Gors. He died July 25, 2011 in Centerville, SD at the age of 75 years. Darrel attended rural school in Turner County, graduated from Centerville High School in 1954 and then attended college. He returned to the family farm in rural Centerville and began his lifelong career in farming. Darrel married Evelyn Olson on February 19, 1966. The couple resided on the farm until they moved into Centerville after Darrel's retirement. Darrel was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was involved in leadership roles in the community including the school board and various positions at Scandia Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming and spending time outside. He was an avid reader and loved history and the stories of our Presidents. Darrel never tired of learning and visited as many of the Presidential museums that he could. He was preceded in death by his parents. His survivors include his wife Evelyn Gors of Centerville; daughter Paige Hanson and husband Paul of Bemidji, MN; grandson Michael Linngren; his sister Margaret Engstrom and husband Wayne of Egan, MN; two brothers, Kenwood Gors and wife Pat of Boerne, TX and Gaylan Gors and wife Gale of Beresford; and his nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, July 29 at Scandia Lutheran Church, Centerville with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
