Darlene June Collins Twedt, 85, of Beresford, SD passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Bethesda of Beresford.  Darlene was born in Hawarden, IA on December 21, 1937 to Robert and Cora (Hout) Collins.  "Dink" as she was known to many of her cousins and friends, was the eldest of 4 daughters.  She grew up in the Hawarden area.

She married Wayne (Bud) Alan Twedt on June 17, 1957.  Wayne & Darlene had 4 daughters, Cheryl, Joanne, Karen & Mary. They lived on a farm near Hudson, SD until 1978.   Darlene & Bud moved to Alcester, SD where she worked at Cenex Total Stop for several years before retiring.  She  enjoyed her job and was grateful for her many  friends there.  Darlene & Bud frequented Arlene's Café  daily for breakfast for many years and even had their own table right up front. They also loved to dance in their younger years.  They enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren on weekends and holidays.  In 2017, they moved to Hillcrest Care Center in Hawarden, IA where they shared a room until Bud passed November 17, 2019.

In September 2020, Darlene moved to Bethesda in Beresford, SD.  She enjoyed Bingo any day there was a Bingo game.  She also enjoyed getting her nails and hair done and she especially  enjoyed Bethesda shopping days.  She was also known for giving the staff a hard time and she loved to "sleep in".  She often visited her sisters in Hawarden, IA for coffee and lunch, as she considered them her dear friends.

Darlene is survived by daughters Cheryl (Randy) Kruid, Hudson, SD, Joanne (Raymond) Paulsen, Beresford, SD, Karen (Tom) Hartwick, Beresford, SD, and Mary (Doug) Jensen, Beresford, SD, grandchildren John (Cara) Kruid, Easton, KS, Tyler (Maricel) Kruid, Brookings, SD, Adam Twedt, Vermillion, SD, Andrew (Holly) Paulsen, Vermillion, SD, Gina (Chad) Setter, Lake Crystal, MN, Cory Baker, Sioux Falls, SD, Ryan June Baker, Norfolk, NE, Kayla (Mike) Styles, Sioux Falls, SD,  Kyle Hartwick, Sioux Falls, SD, Alexandria (Gage) Meehan, Harrisburg, SD, Zach Jensen, Sioux City, IA, Seth (Shannon) Jensen, LeMars, IA, Dylan (Tayler) Jensen, Mondamin, IA, Melanie (Andrew) Hite, Harrisburg, SD, Molly (Jesse) Quarve, Tea, SD, 35 great-grandchildren, sisters, Patricia Hamilton, Kathleen (Jim) Schurman, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (Bud) Twedt, parents, Robert & Cora Collins Bell, stepfather, Elmer Bell, parents-in-law Rudolph & Anna Twedt, sister, Barbara Skipper, grandson, Marcus Wayne Kruid, granddaughter, Mandi Jo Farley.

Burial services will be held at Lands Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
