Darlene C. Murray was born September 4, 1930 on a farm near Kimball, South Dakota to Archie and Clara (Bauman) Murray. She died November 15, 2013 at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 11 days. In March 1937 Darlene's family moved to a farm six miles north of Beresford, SD. Darlene attended Pioneer Grade School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1948. Darlene spent most of her life on the family farm. She took care of both of her parents during their final illnesses. She helped her brothers, Curtis and Arlo, on the farm and kept house for them. She also worked as a waitress for several years at Truck Town Cafe. In April 2011 she moved to Bethesda Nursing Home. Darlene was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Pioneer Ladies Aid. She was the Catholic Daughter of The Year in 2001. She loved animals and being outside. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Curtis and Arlo. She is survived by her brother Thomas Murray of Sioux Falls, SD, two nieces: Coleen Sonntag (Eric) of Geneva, NY and Terese Murray of Sioux Falls, SD, four great nephews and one great, great niece. A funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 20 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford with burial to follow at Riverview Cemetery, rural Centerville. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6PM to 8PM with a wake service at 7PM at St. Teresa Catholic Church.
