Darlene Mae Knutson was born September 21, 1927 in Clay County, SD to parents Wilmer and Lily (Johnke) Tieman. She died December 19, 2014 at the Centerville Care & Rehab at the age of 87 years, two months and 28 days. Darlene was raised and attended school at Dalesburg. She married LaMoyne Knutson on March 1, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD. They farmed in the Dalesburg community for nearly 50 years, when they retired and moved to Centerville in 1989. LaMoyne died July of 2009. Darlene worked part-time at several places during her life as well as raised her five children. She moved into the Centerville Care & Rehab in 2012. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Darlene loved playing Bingo, cards and Scrabble with her family and friends. She cherished her time with family and was blessed to have daily visits from them while in her apartment and in the nursing home. Her parents; husband, LaMoyne; and son, Bruce preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughter, Julie Stromberg and husband Curt of Braham, MN; three sons, Gary and wife Eleanor, Alan and wife Doris and Kendell and wife Patty all of Centerville; daughter-in-law, Monika of Elk Point, SD; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Lee of Vermillion and Dale of Centerville; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 1:30PM Saturday, December 27, 2014 at First English Lutheran Church, Centerville.
