Darlene Blumer was born November 10, 1926 in Parker, SD to parents Lawrence and Cecilia (Stevens) Bennington. She died November 8, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 28 days.
She was raised in the Centerville area. As an adult, Darlene lived in Viborg, Centerville and Beresford. She married Novello Blumer in 1965. They lived in Beresford and Darlene worked as a waitress at the Senior Citizens Center and at Bethesda of Beresford. In later years, Darlene worked as a deli cook at Fiesta Foods and retired at the age 80. Since Novellos death in 1999 she continued to live in Beresford. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as playing Bingo.
She is survived by her daughter, Barb Kessler and husband Gerald of Beulah, ND; two sons, Dawayne Wiebers and Gary Blumer and wife Karen Rossing all of Sioux Falls; three grandchildren, Allen Thompson and Bob Friedel and wife Rachel and Brandon Blumer; great-grandchildren Kayleigh and Peyton Friedel; sister, Lois Johnson of Sioux Falls and special family friend, Barb Anderson. Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother-in-law, Donald Johnson, son-in-law, Melvin Friedel and great-grandson Brady Robert Friedel.
Funeral services will be at 10AM Thursday at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. Visitation is 3-8PM Wednesday at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with the family present from 6-8PM.
