Dale E. Tieman, 87, died Saturday March 21, 2020 at Centerville Care & Rehab. Due to the COVID-19 related concerns, Dale's family will hold a memorial service at a later date to properly celebrate his life with his family and friends. Please keep watch on our website for service updates.
Dale Edward Tieman was born October 24, 1932 in Hudson, SD to Wilmer and Lily (Johnke) Tieman. Dale enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served is country in Korea. He married Lavonne Bucholz on June 28 1960 in Tyndall, SD. They were blessed with their children, Darren and Janine. Lavonne passed away on April 6, 1985.
Dale co-owned and operated Centerville Feed for many years. He later worked at the University of South Dakota, Skogen- Petersen, and he delivered donuts to area gas stations. He was active in the American Legion Post #43 and would be seen proudly wearing his "Korea War Veteran" hat. He enjoyed bowling, trap shooting, fishing and hunting. He looked forward to the camping trips and vacations with his family, one of his favorites was a trip with the family to Las Vegas to celebrate his 80 th birthday. He enjoyed stopping at the DI and visiting with the guys. Dale was cheerful, kindhearted and always had a positive attitude. He was full of jokes and stories and loved to flirt with the ladies.
He is survived by his children, Darren (Jodi) Tieman and Janine (Keith) Ellis, all of Centerville, SD; 2 granddaughters, Haley (Wylie) Tucker, Wood, SD and Rylie Tieman, Centerville, SD; and 3 grandsons, Jim (Chantalle) Ellis, and their son, Cohen, Bismarck, ND, John (Liz) Ellis, and their sons, Emerson and Nolan, Lakewood, CO and Derek Harmon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonne; his parents, Wilmer and Lily; sister, Darlene and brother, Lee.
