Dale Thompson was born January 22, 1963 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Henry and LaVerne (Naeve) Thompson. He passed away January 18, 2024 at his home, following a rigorous snow removal project, at the age of 60 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Dale was the youngest of 10 children. They were raised on the family farm northeast of Beresford and later moved into Beresford. He was active in track and basketball at Beresford High School, graduating in 1983. Dale studied at Minnesota West Community & Technical College in Pipestone and worked as a meat cutter at Alcester Meats. He married Elizabeth "Liz" Turgeon April 4, 1986 at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Sioux Falls. In 2002, Dale started work at Behr Heat Transfer Systems in Canton and attended Southeast Tech to learn welding. He continued when the company became Adams Thermal Systems, Inc. and has been employed there since.

He will be remembered for his love of his immediate and extended family, especially his grandchildren. Dale loved to travel and hike with Elizabeth and spend time with his siblings. He grew and shared a large garden, even though he didn't like to eat vegetables. His girls will miss his grilling skills and bad dad jokes.

Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 37 years, Elizabeth Thompson of Alcester; two daughters, Becky (Justin) Romereim of Bridgewater and Rachael (Tim) Bintz of Elk Point; eight grandchildren, James, Briana, Alexis, Cadence, Terence, Evelin, Zoey and Mason; two brothers, Denny (Marlys) Thompson and Dallas (Linda) Thompson; three sisters, Janice Gordon, Judy (Jon) Cramblett, Joelle Barley and Joann (Art) Taylor; his mother-in-law, Carol Ann Turgeon; and sisters-in-law, Lauretta (Don) Gillette and Gloria Thompson.

Preceding Dale in death were his parents, two brothers, Doug Thompson and Dean Thompson; sister, June; and two brothers-in-law, Mike Gordon and Curt Barley.

Funeral services will be 10AM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Big Springs Baptist Church, rural Alcester. Visitation will be 5-7PM Friday, Jan. 26th at the church with a prayer service at 7PM.
