Dagny Lillian Osthus was born August 1, 1923, to Hansina and Kristoffer Osthus in Hooker, SD. She was baptized October 7, 1923 and confirmed July 4, 1937 at Bethlehem Lutheran of Hooker, SD.

She grew up near Centerville, attending rural Rose Cottage School and Centerville High School. She lived in Minneapolis for several years before returning to the Beresford area where she lived throughout her life. She was married to Raymond Twedt in 1963.

Before moving to Beresford in 1953, Dagny was a member of Scandia Lutheran Church of Centerville, where she sang in the choir, led children's singing, and was active in the young women's group, Lutheran Daughters of the Reformation. After moving to Beresford and serving as conference president for 3 years, she became LDR President for the South Dakota District (Synod) for 4 another years.

She was employed by the Beresford School District for six years and was Activities Director and associate editor of the newsletter during her 21 year employment at Bethesda of Beresford.

Dagny is survived by her son the Rev. Mark Osthus, his wife Christine, grandchildren, Liv, Kristoffer (Deborah), Timothy, Anders (Korrie); three great grandchildren: Eilev, Johan and Charlotte and two sisters-in-law, Erma (Thorvald) Osthus and Deloris (Stanley) Osthus. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray, eight brothers: Harold, Clarence, Alven, Thorvald, Clifford, Edwin, Elmer and Stanley; two sisters: Jenette and Agnes.
