Obituary

Cynthia Lass June 6, 1957-December 9, 2014 Cynthia was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She attended Terreton Elementary and West Jefferson High School. Cynthia grew up on a farm where she enjoying walking, raking leaves, and even pulling weeds. She was energetic and was a hard worker. Cynthia moved with her family to Brookings, SD, her senior year of high school. She attended South Dakota State University and Augustana College where she received a Music Major, an Art Minor, and a 2-year Civil Engineering degree. Cynthia taught in Montessori schools in Kansas City, MO. She had a passion for teaching children and created many learning games. Cindy was an accomplished pianist and artist. She shared her piano skills as a teacher. Her art is shared among friends and family. From Cindy "Cynthia savored every moment of life and had a passion for nature, blue skies, and sunshine. She saw God's perfect creation around her in trees, flowers, birds, and butterflies. She appreciated all animals. She celebrated life with her artwork of barns, fence posts, animals and flowers. Cynthia celebrated the great composers with 15 years of piano study. She enjoyed Beethoven's quote When I am alone, I am never alone.' Beethoven was surrounded by God and God's love. He allowed God to speak through him! Likewise, Cynthia felt God's love at every moment." Cynthia's classical music played in her apartment and while at the Sanford Centennial Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls. Her greatest joy in recent years was returning to South Dakota to serve as a caregiver for homecare clients and to spend time with her father and mother. She treasured those moments. Survivors include her mother Connie Lass, Brookings and her sister, Sandra Lass and husband Jim Allensworth, Laguna Nigel, CA; her aunts, Pat Teeman, Mary Pilker, Sioux Falls; Jo Duffy, Oldham; Karen Lounsbery, Beresford; Patricia Lass, Pamona, CA; Naomi (Charlie) Johnson, Arlington; Marilyn Heinemann, Billings, MT; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Lass. "It is my wish that each of you will receive support to tell your story, straight from the heart, with insight, wisdom, humor, and beauty and to not be clouded by prejudice, dislike or judgment. Seek abundance in all things! Seek acceptance of others, especially those different from oneself!"
