Curtis A. Murray was born January 3, 1919 in Hawarden, IA to parents Archie and Clara (Bauman) Murray. He died April 7, 2009 at the Bethesda Nursing Home in Beresford, SD at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 4 days.
Curtis attended school in the Kimball, SD area. He entered the United States Army in 1942. He served in the Infantry and was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II. Curtis was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to the Beresford area and continued in his lifelong career as a farmer, retiring in 1987. Curtis continued to live on the family farm until his death.
Curtis was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and the Beresford VFW and American Legion. He loved faming and always kept up to date with the latest farm machinery.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Arlo.
His survivors include his sister Darlene Murray of Beresford, SD; brother Thomas Murray and wife Emma of Sioux Falls; two nieces: Terese Murray of Sioux Falls and Coleen Sonntag and husband Eric of Geneva, NY; 4 great nephews and 1 great, great niece.
