Corrine Helen Lingberg, 88, of Sioux Falls, SD died Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  Funeral services for Corrine will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 9 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford, SD.  Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 8 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford, SD, followed by Rosary at 7:00PM.

Corrine (Scheuring) Lingberg was born March 20, 1933 to Nicholas and Genevieve (O'Connor) Scheuring in rural Union County, South Dakota near Beresford, SD.  Corrine was the second oldest of five children.  She attended Beresford Grade School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1951.  As a youngster she was a carrier for the Sioux Falls Argus Leader and after graduating from High School she worked as a waitress at the Green Globe Café.  One day a young construction worker came into the café for lunch at which time she told her fellow workers, "That's the one I'm going to marry."  On May 8, 1952 she was married to, Private 1st Class, Richard "Rich" Lingberg.  They would have two children; Richard "Rick" Lingberg and Teri (Lingberg) Olson.

In her working career Corrine worked as a Checkout at Ralph's Super Value, managed the Beresford Bakery, was an administrator of a five county Emergency and Disaster Service (formerly known as Civil Defense), and provided administrative support services at the University of South Dakota.  In addition, Corrine ran her own Ceramics Shop for many years.

Amongst her many volunteer services, she most proudly served the community as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Beresford Ambulance and Rescue Squad.  Most notably, she served in many positions with the American Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors of America and many committees at St. Teresa Catholic Church where she also taught CCD for many years.

Corrine was a fabulous cook.  Family gatherings at her house were always a delight.  In addition to raising their family, Rich and Corrine enjoyed traveling, camping, playing cards, and games.  They lived together in their home in Beresford until moving to Sioux Falls in 2007 until Rich's passing in 2010 after which she lived her final eleven years at Sunnycrest Apartments where she made many close friends.

Survivors include her two children Rick (Mary) and Teri (John) Olson, all of Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Sarah (Torey) Koch and T.J. (Colleen) Olson, Sioux Falls, SD, Christine (Shawn) Alford, Houston, TX, Erin (Chris) Zielinski, Minneapolis, MN and Heather (Andy) Lucking, St. Paul, MN.  Corrine has fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Nick Scheuring, Deer Park, WA and Rita Fairfield, Valentine, NE;  and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings; Anita and Mary.
