Cleo Jurgenson was born March 1, 1931 in South Dakota to William and Hattie (Nissen) O'Connor. She died July 5, 2012 in Viborg, SD at the age of 81 years, four months and four days. She was raised in the Beresford area and attended Sunnyside country school and graduated from Beresford High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Hawarden, IA. Cleo married Jack Jurgenson and in 1962 they moved to California. She worked for many years with the civil service. They returned to South Dakota in 1970 and Cleo worked at the sewing factory and also at Custom Coils in Alcester. Cleo enjoyed growing flowers and keeping a garden. Following Jack's death in 2000, Cleo continued to live in Beresford. She is survived by her son, Vincent Jurgenson of Beresford. Her parents, husband, son, Jeffrey, brother, Michael O'Connor and sister, Colletta Meilie preceded her in death. Mass of Christian burial will be 10AM Saturday, July 7, 2012 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford. Visitation will be 5-7PM Friday with a wake service at 7PM at the church.
