Clark William Wells was born May 21, 1944 in the farmhouse to parents Garth and Cora (Heiman) Wells. He died March 4, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 4 days. Clark was raised on a farm near Alcester as the only son in a family of four sisters. He attended Brilliant Hill Elementary and Alcester High School graduating in 1962. He was united in marriage to Diane Sassel on June 20, 1964, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford. They farmed and raised their family north of Alcester. Clark became a hog buyer and operated Dakota Pork located in Alcester. He retired when he sold the business. In retirement he trucked for his son Chad's business. Clark had a reputation among family and friends for being able to fix anything. He had a passion for cars and pickups. His last great hobby was fixing up a 1993 silver Dodge pickup. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family. He fixed up trails in the grove for the grandkids to ride the golf cart, 4-wheeler, go cart and John Deere mowers when they visited. He bought a camper and hoped to take the grandkids camping this summer. He loved trips to the Black Hills and Branson, MO with Diane. Among those who survive and shared his life are his wife, Diane, Alcester; three sons, Todd (Jessica) Wells, Sioux Falls, Chad (Ginger) Wells, Brandon, Bryan (Beth) Wells, Sioux City, IA; three sisters Connie Hagen, Sun City, AZ, Ginny (Merlyn) Solberg, Rochester, MN, Judy Hagler, Anchorage, AK; eleven grandkids, Ariahna, Aidan, Collin, Tyler, Lauren, Ashley, Elivia, Nicholas, Elise, Lincoln, and Noah Wells; and many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, March 8 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford with burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, rural Beresford.
