Charles A. Olson was born January 10, 1944 in Vermillion, SD to parents Chester and Avis (Anderson) Olson. He died March 11, 2007 in rural Beresford, SD at the age of 63 years. Charles attended Dalesburg rural school and Beresford High School. He worked at Westburg Feed and Seed for a few years. In 1966 Charles moved to Belvidere, IL and began working for Chrysler. He retired in 2000 and moved to the Beresford area in January of 2005 where he had resided until the current time. Charles was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a member of Dalesburg Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, John Deere Tractors and especially following NASCAR. Charles was a big Dodge fan and avidly cheered for Kasey Kahne. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Jeff Kumm and niece Andrea Kumm. His survivors include his son Charlie Olson of Afton, TN; step-son Jeff Carter of Greenville, TN; granddaughter Hayley; sister Marabeth Kumm and husband Frank of Beresford; two brothers: Larry Olson and wife Joyce of Columbia, MO and Curtis Olson and wife Lynda of Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10AM, Friday, March 16 at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford with burial at Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4Pm to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home.
