Charles Eide, 79, of Beresford, SD, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Beresford Zion United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to a charity of your choice.


Charles Leroy Eide was born on June 25, 1938 on the family farm northeast of Beresford to parents Julian and Beatrice Eide. He attended Pleasant Valley Country School and graduated from Beresford High School in 1956. He proudly served 6 years with the South Dakota Air National Guard.


In 1965, he married Loretta Knock at Davis, SD. They farmed near Davis where they had a Grade A dairy. In 1987, they moved to the family farm near Beresford where he enjoyed farming and raising livestock. They moved to Beresford in 2010.


Charlie was a member of the Beresford Zion United Methodist Church where he served on several committees. He and Loretta spent 13 winters in Arizona where he met many new friends and enjoyed riding ATV's in the desert and mountains. Back in South Dakota, he went on many tractor rides, even driving his little "H" across the Mackinaw Bridge. He especially liked to cruise in his '56 Chevy.


Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Loretta; daughters, Darla Harris (Chad Benson) and Lynne McVey and her husband, John; grandchildren, Marie McVey, Caroline McVey, Rachael McVey and Walter Charles McVey; brother, Jim Eide; and brothers-in-law, Rodney (Barbara) Knock and Gary Knock; six nephews and their families; and many dear friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; and his sister-in-law, Lavon.
