Catherine E. Kennedy died February 24 in Sarasota, FL, after a brief illness. She left her life in peace surrounded by love with her husband Glen and two children Kevin and Shelly. Catherine Katie Ellen OConnor was born May 12, 1927 in Beresford, SD to parents James and Anna (Muhlenkort) OConnor. Katies mother died a month after she was born and she was raised by her aunt, Mayme OConnor. Katie graduated from Beresford High School in 1945. She married Glen Kennedy on September 18, 1950. Katie was a lifelong Beresford resident. All her adult life she was a loving wife and devoted mother. Katie was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting and made many beautiful quilts. She loved spending time with her family and her many friends. Katie was preceded in death by her parents and brother Leonard OConnor. Survivors include her loving husband Glen Kennedy of Beresford; 2 children: Dr. Kevin Kennedy of Ft. Myers, FL and daughter Dr. Shelly Kennedy of Sarasota, FL; sister Mildred (Warren) Reierson and 3 half sisters: Pat Heggestad, and Janice and Shirley OConnor all of Beresford; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10AM, Friday, March 3 at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford with burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:30Pm to 8PM with a wake service at 7PM at St. Teresa Catholic Church.
