Caryn Jacobson was born February 9, 1955 in Akron, IA to parents Vernon and Florence (Siemers) Fickbohm. She died December 18, 2012 at Sanford Vermillion Hospital at the age of 57. Caryn attended Hillswood and Newdale rural schools and graduated from Beresford High School. She married Dean Jacobson on July 16, 1983 in Alcester. She operated an in-home daycare and worked at Custom Coil for many years. Caryn was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester and was a Sunday school teacher for 10 years. She enjoyed crafts, cooking and baking, reading and walking her dogs. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her daughter Staci. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Craig and sister-in-law Sandi. Her survivors include her daughter Staci Jacobson, Beresford; two brothers, Curtis (Julie) Fickbohm, Vermillion and Calvin Fickbohm, Sioux Falls; two sisters, Colleen Speakman, Vermillion and Candice (Mark) Merrick, Alcester; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, December 21, 2012 at Peace Lutheran Church in Alcester with burial to follow at Peace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Alcester. Visitation will be Thursday from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Beresford.
