Carolina Ruth (Meyer) Wiebers, 75, of Centerville, SD, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Sanford Vermillion Care Center.  Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday, October 24 at First English Lutheran Church in Centerville.  Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Monday, October 23 at Wass Funeral Home in Centerville with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Carolina Meyer was born January 19, 1942 in Lodi, CA to Leo and Alma (Hahn) Meyer.  She grew up with two sisters, Gloria and Sonja on a farm eight miles southwest of Armour, SD.  Growing up on the farm, she learned to drive a tractor at age eight, worked with her daddy in the field, chores, threshing, and still helped her momma in the garden.  She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.  She attended school in Armour, SD and graduated in 1960.  After high school, she attended Springfield Teacher's College and received a two-year teaching certificate.  While attending college, she met the love of her life, Dean Wiebers.  They were married on July 30, 1961.  To this union, five children were born.  Dean passed away December 26, 1989.

Carolina was a stay-at-home mother.   She sold Artex Paints for ten years and then worked at Chers and Jers in Centerville.  She cleaned houses for several residents in town and for 14 years was a janitor at Centerville Public School.  In 1997, she received an associate's degree for Travel and Tourism at National College.  She decided to retire in 2003.

Carolina loved to travel with her family and her friends.  Her journeys took her to Kansas, California, Texas, North Carolina, Maryland, Alaska and all around South Dakota.  Carolina had a strong faith in God.  She was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Centerville since 1962.  She enjoyed singing in the choir and she held several offices within the Ladies Aid, Sunday School, and the Voter's Board.

Carolina is dearly remembered by her five children, Kevin (Cathy) Wiebers, Tea, SD, Dawn Wiebers, Madison, SD, Janelle Anderson, Irene, SD, Leon Wiebers, Los Angeles, CA and Connie (Daniel) Swensen, Vermillion, SD; sister, Sonja Meyer, Centerville, SD; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; her parents; sister, Gloria Wommack; son-in-law, Don Anderson; granddaughter, Tonya Anderson; and great-granddaughter, Kaydence Jean Wiebers.
