Brian Jude Hofer was born September 30, 1954 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Ottwin and Mildred (Kappenman) Hofer. He died April 2, 2024 in Sioux Falls at the age of 69 years.
Brian was raised in Bridgewater, SD where he attended Catholic school through the 8th grade. Following his graduation from Bridgewater High School he attended Mitchell Technical College. Brian married Lori Hongslo August 19, 1978. They had three children, Joshua, Adam, and Melissa.
He worked as a power lineman for Lincoln-Union Electric Company (Southeastern Electric Cooperative) for 38 years. Brian then dealt cards at Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort for nine years before officially retiring.
Always teaching and mentoring, Brian was involved in many activities. Brian taught CCD and confirmation classes at his church. He was a youth coach for baseball, softball and basketball for many years. Brian always enjoyed supporting his kids during their activities and being at their events. He was the game clock operator at their basketball games throughout high school. Brian also re-started the amateur baseball program in Alcester after over 20 years of not having a team.
When he wasn't coaching, he enjoyed many weekends in the summer at the campground and on the beach with his family and friends. He also loved fishing and hunting with his brother, his boys, and his dogs. After his retirement from work and coaching, you could always find Brian in the front row, on YouTube, or FaceTime of his grandkids' sporting events cheering them on.
His parents, Ottwin and Mildred Hofer; and his brother, Frank Hofer preceded him in death.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 45 years, Lori Hofer of Alcester; two sons, Josh (Wendy) Hofer of Holdingford, MN and Adam Hofer of LaVergne, TN; daughter, Melissa (Jared) Anderson of Canton, SD; six grandchildren, Braden, Dawson, Deakin, Espn, Mya and Peyton; and his sister, Annelle (Dave) Reynolds-Fillat.
