Bonnie Jean Newberg was born May 12, 1926 in Ireton, IA to parents Harry and Emma (Reed) Collins. She passed away October 14, 2015 at her home in Alcester, SD at the age of 89 years. Bonnie married Roland Newberg on October 18, 1946. The couple lived on a farm southwest of Alcester until January of 1962 when they moved into town. Bonnie worked at Morris Grocery, Otis Radio in Hawarden and along with Roland, owned and operated Anderson Garage until 1996. Roland passed away in 1996, having been married to Bonnie for over 50 years. She continued to live in Alcester and has resided here until the present time. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 8 brothers, and 3 sisters. Survivors include her daughter Sandra (Howard) Weisz, Mitchell, SD; her son Charles (Shirley) Newberg, Fairbanks, Alaska; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; her sister Kaye (Lyle) Antrim; sisters-in-law Ardis and Delores Collins; and special friends Anne and Tad McDole and Rick and Jessica; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Nathanael Lutheran Church, Alcester, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
