Bonnie Jean Hustrulid was born April 20, 1925 in Vermillion, SD to parents Walter and Alice (Brown) Christopherson. She died August 17, 2011 at Bethesda nursing home in Beresford, SD at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 27 days. Bonnie attended Prairie Bell and Roosevelt Country Schools and graduated from Vermillion High School. She was a homemaker for most of her life with a short period of time working as a phone operator for Northwestern Bell. Bonnie married Oliver Hustrulid on April 3, 1947 in Vermillion, SD. The couple lived in Beresford until 1971 when they then moved to Englewood, Colorado. In 2000 the couple moved back to Beresford. Bonnie has lived at Bethesda Nursing Home from 2006 until present. Bonnie was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vermillion. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and has served on the VFW Auxilary for 64 years. Bonnie loved listening to Duane's music, playing bingo, being with her family, having fun with her sisters, and attending any family gathering. She especially loved to play cards. Her favorites being Rummy and 31. There was never a reason not to play 31 with her because she had the cards readily available and if you didn't bring money she would supply all of the nickels! Bonnie touched the lives of many people and maintained her trademark kindness and politeness. No matter what she always had a "Thank you." Survivors include her four children: Judy Jensen and husband Terry of Beresford, Duane Hustrulid of Scottsdale, AZ, Joanie Hustrulid of Rapid City, SD, Karen Boden and husband Ray of Beresford and Peggy Robinette and husband Mike of Westcliffe, Co; 11 grandchildren: Nathan (Kristin) Jensen, Becky (Jason) Pauly, Candace (Greg) Zweifel, Nicole Stakebake, Christopher (Beth) Hustrulid, Christina (Randy) Quartier, Kim (Eric) Lindgren, Larry (Jill) Boden, Andrew (Ann) Boden, Paul (Becki) Robinette, and Melissa Robinette; 27 great grand children and a great grandchild due in November 2011. Bonnie is also survived by three loving sisters Joyce Ashmore, Betty Hansen, and Lela (Deryl) Kruse and many, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver, in 2007, her parents, Walter and Alice Christopherson, infant son, David, and two sisters Geraldine Adamson, and Cleo Christopherson. Funeral services will be 10:00AM, Saturday, August 20 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Beresford with burial at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Beresford. Visitation will be Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran from 5PM to 8PM with family present from 6PM to 8PM and a prayer service at 7PM.
