Bonnie Elaine (Foss) Erickson, 86, peacefully died Wednesday, February 6, 2019 with her family by her side at the Canton Good Samaritan Society. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 12 at Scandia Lutheran Church in Centerville, SD. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Monday, February 11 at Scandia Lutheran Church's Fellowship Hall, followed by a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Bonnie was born May 13th, 1932 on a farm west of Vermillion, South Dakota to Martin and Bernice Foss. The family moved to the east side of Sioux Falls when Bonnie was two years old. She graduated with honors from Washington High School. She was then granted a scholarship to McKennan Nursing School in Sioux Falls. Again, she graduated with honors.
On April 25th, 1961, she married Wayne Erickson. They were blessed with 47 years together! They lived on the Erickson family farm near Centerville. Their lives were enriched with the adoption of Tom and Ann. Bonnie loved attending all their activities. Bonnie was also an avid farm wife. She became President of the National Porkettes in 1970's. This role allowed her to bring recognition to the achievements of farm wives. Bonnie continued her nursing career way past retirement years, as she dedicated her experience to several nursing homes.
Bonnie was known for her excellent cooking and baking skills, especially her chocolate chip cookies! She had a very quick wit that kept people "on their toes"!
Grateful for having shared her life are her son Tom (Amy) Erickson; her daughter Ann (Tim) DeLay; grandsons Andrew and Zach Erickson; and granddaughters Alli and Lexi DeLay.
Bonnie was preceded in death by an infant son, Anton; her husband, Wayne; her parents Martin and Bernice Foss; four brothers, Kenneth, Martin "Skip", James, Clifford; and one sister, Thelma.
