Blaine Edwin McClary of Centerville, SD, passed away at Sioux Falls, SD, on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at the age of 73. Blaine was born at Loup City, Nebraska, to Harold and Martha (McGavern) McClary, on January 17, 1936.
Blaine lived in Nebraska through his school years, graduating from the University of Nebraska with Major in Music. He was a life-long Huskers fan, and a proud member of the Cornhusker Marching Band Alumni. Following University, he married Myrna Mills of Winner, SD, and both taught music in Nebraska until they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1967. Blaine had a very successful teaching career in Yorkton, SK; Lethbridge, Alberta; Estevan, SK; Swan River, Manitoba; and finally back in the Estevan area.
Blaine returned to the United States and traveled and worked in various states, finally settling in to the Sioux Falls area, where he spent his remaining years enjoying his favorite past times - hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Harold, and infant brother Vaughn.
He leaves to mourn his children; Maureen (Matt) Jackiw, Michael (Charese) McClary, and Kathleen (Brad) Warne, and eight grandchildren; Christina, Savannah, Molly, Emily, Robert, Gretta, Joey, and Liam.
A celebration of Blaine's life will be held on Friday, September 4, 2009, at Wass Funeral Home, Centerville, SD at 10:00 am, with a private family interment at Arcadia, NE at a later date. The family requests memorials, if friends so desire, be directed to cancer research in Blaines name.
