Beaulah M. Wieland was born January 27th in Irene, SD to parents Milton and Bertha (Rude) Engen. She not only was the first grandchild for E.P. Engen, she was also born on grandma Engen's birthday. Beulah was baptized and confirmed at Elim Lutheran Church in rural Irene. She also attended Lowell School #36, Whittier School #31, and Irene High School for one year. Then she transferred to Augustana Academy, Canton, SD and graduated Class of 1946.

After graduation she worked at Augsburg Publishing House, Minneapolis, MN. In 1947 she returned to the Augustana Academy working in the business office. Later she worked in the Montgomery Ward mail and order room in Mitchell, SD.

Beulah was married to Wilbert A. Wieland February 7th, 1948 at Alexandria, SD. Together they became parents to two sons – Milton (Milt) and Paul. She was a stay-at-home mom, and she also did typing for soil science and food warehouse inspections. While her sons were in grade school, she served as part-time secretary to the principal. Beulah enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and travel when it was possible. She was also an avid letter writer.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, brother Earl and son Paul. She is survived by husband Wilbert, brother David, son Milt, daughter-in-law Pat, and a grandchild, Pyrrha.
