Bernadine Field was born June 13, 1937 and raised in Beresford, South Dakota, a daughter of Bernard and Margaret Field. She died August 26, 2020 in Beresford, SD at the age of 83 years, two months and 13 days. She is survived by a brother, Eugene Field and his wife Diana, living in California, and her nephew, Justin Field, MD, living in Michigan.

Bernadine faced a challenging life beginning at age 20 when as a student nurse suffered a debilitating stroke with left sided paralysis. After a lengthy rehabilitation, she attended Dakota State University and received her Teaching Credential.  She taught elementary school for many years and continued her education part time until earning her Master's Degree from the University of South Dakota. She finished her working career in Yankton, SD at a Rehabilitation Center until her retirement in Beresford.

Bernadine was very independent and lived alone in her home in Beresford with occasional help from some wonderful neighbors. She fractured her hip from a fall and then became a resident at Bethesda of Beresford.  After adjusting to her loss of independence, she became well-adjusted as a client in Bethesda where she felt safe and contented until her passing.
