Surrounded by love, Beatrice Marie McGuire passed from this life into God's embrace on May 1, 2026, at the age of 95. She was born to George and Odella (Ouellette) Hubert on November 30, 1930.
Bea was raised near Beresford, where she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and faith that would guide her throughout her life. On November 20, 1947, she married Donald W. McGuire at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Emmet Township. Together, they made their home on a farm southeast of Beresford, where they raised their four children.
In 1986, Bea and Donald retired to Beresford. After Donald’s passing in 1999, Bea continued to live there independently for the rest of her life. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—gardening, caring for her birds, and spending time visiting with friends over coffee.
Bea remained connected to her faith in a steady and quiet way. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and participated in the Altar Society. She also gave generously of her time, volunteering at the Civic Center Thrift Store for more than 20 years. Known as the “glass lady,” she had a special fondness for collecting crystal and took joy in sharing that interest with others.
Her family was an important part of her life, and she took great pride and joy in raising her children. She is survived by her son, James McGuire of Vermillion; her daughters, Carol (Ron) Young of Olathe, KS; Dorothy (Mark) Weber of Lenexa, KS; and Nancy (Allen) Twedt of Richmond, VA; along with 11 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; two grandsons, Cash and Cooper; her daughter-in-law, Sharon McGuire; her sister, Helen Baity; and her brothers, Leonard, Leo, Raymond, Harold, and Gerald.
Bea will be remembered for her strength, her independence, and the life she built for her family. Her faith remained a quiet foundation throughout her years, and she now rests in peace.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Beresford, with burial to follow at 12:15 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery in Emmet Township. Visitation will be held from 5:00–7:00 PM on Tuesday at Wass Funeral home in Beresford.
